Technical Notes
on the Photographs

Welcome

Technical Details

I find some of the technical information provided by photographers rather pretentious. I never record exposure details. Nonetheless, some of the following may be of interest. These photographs were mostly taken on a Bronica 645 medium format camera using either a standard lens or a 40mm. Some were shot using a 150mm lens. Film used in this camera was usually Kodak Tri-X. The other camera used was a Nikon FE 35mm camera, using Ilford FP4 film. A few were shot on FP4 using an old Plaubel 6x9 monorail view camera - a real old little gem, but tedious as all getup to use.

Film was developed in Ilford ID-11 developer, and printed on either an LPL7700 enlarger, or more typically a Durst M805 condensor enlarger (all donations of medium format diffusion enlargers with a filter drawer will be jumped at!), using Ilford Multigrade II RC paper. Surface was usually pearl, but occasionally gloss. Most prints are 8x10 (inches) which were used for scanning. The 'Images from Previous Exhibitions' were printed on 12x16.

Viewing the Images

These images have been scanned in for screen display, and I have tried to adjust brightness and contrast to best match the original. This may not look good on all screens. If not, adjust your screen, and email the curator with the details. The grey scale used will typically require a 16 or 24 bit colour display driver to bring out the best in the photographs, my apologies to those with only 8 bit (256 colour) display drivers.

Printing the Images

Please remember these photographs are all copyright. Nonetheless, I don't mind a single copy being printed for non-commercial use. However as I have set resolution of these images for screen display (i.e. low), the quality will not be all that great. If you need a better copy please email the curator with the details.
